Canggu drinks well before it drinks late. A guide to the rooms worth sitting in, from breweries to the places that only make sense after dark.

Canggu's bars have a particular problem: almost all of them are also restaurants, and almost all of them are also beach clubs. The result is a strip where the word bar tells you very little.

What follows is filtered to places Google's own primary tag calls a bar — not a restaurant with a cocktail list, and not a day club with a DJ. It is a shorter list than you would expect, and a better one.

Go early. Canggu eats at seven and is loud by ten, and the rooms that are worth looking at are best seen before the crowd arrives.
