Where to Stay in Uluwatu: A Guide by Vibe
Uluwatu is not a neighbourhood, it is a peninsula. The difference between the north end and the cliffs is forty minutes of bad road, and it decides your whole trip.
The mistake people make with Uluwatu is treating it as one place. It is a limestone peninsula with a temple at the end of it, and the resorts on the cliffs have almost nothing to do with the surf shacks above Bingin.
Stay near Bingin or Padang Padang if you want to walk to the water and eat somewhere different every night. Stay out towards Ungasan or Pecatu if the pool and the view are the point — the drive is long, the food options thin, and that is precisely the trade you are making.
Almost nothing here is walkable to anything else. Choose the thing you actually want to be next to and accept a scooter for the rest.
